10,000-Mile Service Intervals

Volvo maintenance guidelines are determined by a Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) that alerts owners when Service is due. For simplicity’s sake, the firm schedules service to occur every 10,000 miles. During the 10,000-mile service, mechanics replace the synthetic engine oil and filter, reset the Service Reminder Indicator alert, check the engine coolant and adjust anti-freeze rating and anti-corrosion agent, check and adjust the power steering fluid level, check the windshield washer fluid level, check the wiper blades and washers for headlights, examine all external lighting, and even clean the inside of the windshield in front of the camera for vehicles equipped with camera for collision warning. Finally, technicians will check and adjust the brake fluid level, examine the brake pads and rotors, and check the condition of the wheels and tires.

Overall, it’s a pretty extensive list that repeats itself, more or less, at the 20,000-mile and 30,000-mile marks. Along the way, there may be additional services like replacement of the engine air filter, and the in-cabin air filter.

Volvo Increased Protection Plans

Volvo Increased Protection Plans are customizable extended versions of their limited warranty contracts. They can be configured in a number of different ways with varying terms and mileage ranging from one to eight years, and the ability to run the warranty out to a maximum mileage of 120,000 miles. Deductibles are involved and can range from $0 to $250. Coverage is also available for leased Volvos and certified pre-owned Volvos with a $0-$100 deductible option.

VIP coverage is fully backed by Volvo, uses only genuine Volvo parts, and is performed by factory-trained technicians. VIP members can take advantage of total coverage up to $75 per incident, rental reimbursement coverage up to $35 per day, and travel coverage if you break down more than 100 miles from home. The plans are transferable to new owners if you choose to sell your vehicle, apply if you are traveling through Canada, and can be rolled into the total purchase price for payment on a monthly basis.
